A New Level of Transparency for Everyone in the Waste Industry

August 23, 2019

We know that fleet management systems allow waste haulers to increase productivity, save operating costs, and reduce customer service issues – but one key benefit that hasn’t received much attention is the transparency these solutions offer.

The digital transformation of the waste and recycling industry has effectively broken down the silos between internal functional groups and external key stakeholders.  Advanced fleet technology enables a true customer collaboration platform that creates a greater level of visibility and accountability in waste collection.

With commercial customers, waste haulers are able to improve service delivery with mobile tools that deliver real-time tracking and proof of service tools to show where trucks are, where they have been, and most importantly, whether or not service was performed.  Using our Coretex mobile apps and in-cab display, we incorporate the driver as part of the solution.  Exception recording lets the driver record blocked or contaminated carts or other service anomalies on the spot, and the customer knows instantly.

With image verification added to the solution, customer service staff are armed with actionable evidence, including a video clip and/or photo showing proof of the exceptions.  By providing detailed information about exceptions and non-compliance through a customer collaboration platform, waste haulers are able to resolve service inquiries and complaints much more quickly.

In residential waste services, there are often multiple players in the process, adding a degree of complexity.  For instance, with the City of Charlotte, the municipality owns 300 trucks to carry out its residential bin collection, yet contracts with Waste Management for recycling services and Waste Pro for front load dumpster pickups at multi-unit housing complexes.  In this case, the challenge Coretex solves is pulling data together from every truck across all providers into a single dashboard interface that can be reviewed by all of the partners involved.

Using our eRoute Management toolkit, the City is able to track and view with enterprise-grade maps the real-time route status of work orders and completion activity from its own operation as well as its third-party contractors.  Waste Management and Waste Pro receive real-time granular data about the performance of each of their fleet operations including location tracking, hours of service and vehicle diagnostics.  Citizens also have access to relevant data they desire via the Coretex Residential Waste App.  Residents are able to see when their trash and recycling collection is scheduled for pick up and if there is a truck on the way.

Coretex’s Smart Waste solution with cloud-based visualization software turns rich data into automated business intelligence and brings a new level of transparency, accountability, safety and service to waste haulers, municipalities, commercial customers and citizens.

Our modular offering lets you scale the solution to match your needs and provides a single source of operational truth for everyone involved your waste hauling operation.
